Simulation in steel-recycling in the next VESS

/ June 9, 2021

Meet our next VESS speaker – Dr Vito Logar from Slovenia.  On June 18, he will give a talk about
The Use of Modelling and Simulation Tools in Steel-Recycling Processes. Don’t miss this interesting VESS talk, and register now! Registration is free of charge and is open to everyone!

DATE: June 18

TIME: 5 PM CEST (GMT +2:00)

Dr Vito Logar

Vito Logar received his B.Sc. and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical engineering, the University of Ljubljana in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the same institution and a member of the Laboratory of Control Systems and Cybernetics. His professional career relates to the research and development in the field of electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking, primarily focusing on theoretical and data-based process models, process analysis, simulation, and optimization in terms of resource use. He has published more than 80 papers in international journals and conferences and is a holder of an international patent. In the past, he has participated in several research projects related to the EAFs. Currently, he is a leader of the cooperating partner in the scope of an ongoing EU Horizon 2020 project INEVITABLE, devoted to digital transformation and advanced software support of the steel-making industry. He has received an award for outstanding scientific achievements from the Slovenian Research Agency and Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and the Golden Plaque of the University of Ljubljana, awarded for exceptional contributions to the development of science, and for strengthening the reputation of the University of Ljubljana. Since 2014 he is the president of the Slovenian Society for Simulation and Modelling (SLOSIM).
